Giampaolo Landi di Chiavenna |

Giampaolo Landi di Chiavenna was born in Modena on June 19th 1950, he graduated in Law in 1974. He has been working since 1978 as a lawyer in Milan in the civil field, with special concern to the company and trade area and has been collaborating since December 1996 as Of Counsel of the Tributary Legal Studio in association with Ernst & Young and is Strategic Advisor of the Studio Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe. He was elected as member of the parliament during the 13th Legislature (1996-2001). During that period he was member of the Production Activities Committee and of the Constitutional Affairs Committee. In June 2001 he was elected again as a member of the parliament during the 14th Legislature. He was a member of the Foreign Committee (Headgroup of AN), Vice-President of the Committee for World Hunger. He was member of the 14th European Union Policies Commission. He was member of the Parliamentary Committee on Control of Implementation and Functioning of the Schengen Agreement and Europol (headgroup of AN). He was member of the parliamentary delegation at the Centre European Initiative Assembly. He was President of the Italy Taiwan Parliamentary Committee. As a deputy he presented several bills , he was supervisor of many legislative measures and he participated to several parliamentary missions. Since 1998 he is the National Overseer of the Demography and Immigration Department of Alleanza Nazionale and he wrote several dissertation deepening the issue. In particular he published many research monographs. He collaborated with newspapers and radio/TVs and he participated, as a panellist, to many national and international congresses. In 2000 he published a book entitled “Demography and Immigration: the Third Millennium Challenge”. He was overseer of several legislative measures in the field of immigration, citizenship, protection of political refugees. He is Advisor of the Executive Committee of the Milan Fair Foundation and member of the general Council of the above mentioned foundation. He is President of the NGO Association “Alleanza per lo Sviluppo e la Cooperazione” (Coalition for Development and Cooperation) through which he promotes humanitarian and solidarity activities, by collaborating Italian NGOs and international organizations as well. He was President of the Italy Australis Africa Chamber of Commerce. He promoted and is still promoting missions for economical and commercial exchanges between Italy and African and Asian Countries, as well as promotion of the Italian culture in the world. Since December 2007 he has been Health Councillor of the City of Milan. |
