Francesco Sicurello

Doctor in Physics (specialized in Cybernetics), he has many years of experience (from 1978) in Medical Informatics. Expert in informatics at the Health General Directorate (Research and Innovation Office) of Lombardia Region. He is President of Italian Association in Telemedicine and Medical Informatics (@ITIM). He is Professor of Medical Informatics at University of Milan-Bicocca and Professor of Advanced Informatics Technologies at University of ’Insubria (Como). Referent for Telemedicine in the Scientific and Technological Cooperation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is Responsible of Bio-Medical Informatics at the University Center of Desio (MI), Lombardia Region. From 1997 to 2001 he has been Responsible of the Informatics Service at National Neurological Institute C. Besta, of Milan.

 

From 1991 to 1997 he has been responsible of a Research Group in computarization of medical record in the frame of the Finalized Program CNR/FATMA. From 1986 to 1988 he has been Researcher in medical informatics at Policlinic Hospital (Scientific Directorate of Milan).

 

In 1982 he took part in Epidemiology and Medical Statistics Commission of Lombardia Health Office. From 1978 to 1986 he carried on research activities in the project of epidemiological surveillance of Seveso population, affected by dioxine event, implementing the Health Information System.

 

His activity consists on studies and designs of Health Information Systems, computerization of medical record and clinical database, statistical software and applications of artificial intelligence techniques in bio-medicine (expert systems, artificial neural networks, etc.).

 

He is responsible of several research projects on Medical Informatics and Telemedicine, of Italian, European and International R&D Programmes.

 

He has been and is coordinator of projects in telemedicine and medical informatics in the frame of the scientific and technological cooperation between Italy and Romania, Croatia, Greece, Slovenia, Australia, Hungary and Egypt (supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).

 

Author of more then 300 publications (national and international) in Medical Informatics, Telemedicine and software for data analysis.
