© Infopoverty 2012 The 10th Infopoverty World Conference, held on March 18-19 at the United Nations Headquarters and in multiple seats connected by videoconference endorsed the Final Declaration 2010. In this framework it was approved: “To develop a multi-stakeholder UN e- MDG’s Consortium in cooperation with the United Nations, its specializing agencies and programs, for e-services delivery, managed by the user countries and able to activate and distribute services such as telemedicine, e-education, e-governance, e- agriculture (phytopathology, parasitology, veterinary, land registry), e-entrepreneurship to achieve the MDGs.” The Infopoverty Consortium aims at exploiting a broadband satellite platform able to connect each community of the world, according to the model implemented in the ICT- Millennium Villages and integrated with WIMAX low cost solutions.The satellite platform will be able to deliver e-services for development to member states in fields such as education, health and food security in partnership with centers of excellences, building on the positive results of the Community of Expertise “e-services for development” led by OCCAM in the framework of the UN Global Alliance for ICT and Development, according to the modalities and contents successfully presented at the XIII Session of the UN Commission on Science and Technologies for Development The Infopoverty Consortium will provide to Member States a variety of e-services for development, spanning from e-learning to telemedicine, e-health, e-governance, e-agriculture, e-commerce and others, based on the concrete needs of end users. The 10 year experience of the more than 200 partners (public and private institutions, universities, companies, centres of excellence, R&D centres, etc.) that in recent years have been at the forefront in the field of ICT4D and that have agreed to participate in the activities of the Infopoverty Programme is the guarantee that the Infopoverty Consortium will be a concrete development opportunity for the Countries that will adhere to it.
