Multipurpose Community Centres - Vietnam

The
project in Vietnam involves four MCTs, two in the Central
Highlands province of Dak Lak and two in northern Ha
Bac province. These provinces were selected for their
geographical conditions and income levels. Services
provided by MCTs include educational services and telehealth
services.the project is supported by ITU and the SwedishInternational
Development Agency.

Four
teams conversant with application focusing on telehealth,
small and medium-sized enterprises, agriculture and rural
development have been established by the relevant ministries
to collaborate on the MCT project that complements another
project that Vietnam has undertaken to reduce the gap
between rural and urban areas. |

This
is the Telecommunications and Post Cultural Points for
Communes (TPCPC) programme, which began in 1998 and aims
to bring access to basic Telecommunications and postal
services to every commune. The project plans to increase
the total communes served to 9,000 by 2005. |
